What are your manuscript formatting guidelines? Use the submission form to upload a docx file of your manuscript. Please be sure to include information such as copyright, ISBN (if needed), title, acknowledgements, and indicate any other special sections. Please do not add any extra line breaks within your manuscript as this may adversely affect the formatting of your book. For ebook requests, also upload your cover image as a separate file.
What are your ebook cover file guidelines? Use the submission form to upload a jpg, png, or tiff file of the cover image for your ebook. For best results, cover images should be sized at 2560 pixels tall. Authors will be contacted in the event that there is an issue with the submitted cover image.
Will the ebook cover be included in the paperback edition? Cover images (ebook cover file provided by the author) traditionally do not appear within the print edition, however if requested by the author, I am happy to include it in the first pages of the paperback book. Paperback formatting is for interior pages only and does not include production of the wrap-around cover file used by print-on-demand services.
What if I find an error in my book after I’ve uploaded it to The Creative Spirit? Contact me immediately! If I have not started work on your project, it will be no problem for you to send me a revised version of your book. If work has already begun, I will negotiate a fair price on a case by case basis. If your book has already been completed, unfortunately, it will need to be billed as a new project.
What types of ebook files will I receive? Kindle, Apple, Nook, Kobo, Google, and Generic EPUB, plus a marketing cover image (original image provided by the author) for each ebook distribution platform.
What types of paperback files will I receive? For the standard $99 service, authors will receive 2 formatted paperback editions—standard and large print files. Authors who already have a standard print edition and wish to reach a wider audience with a large print edition may choose the $65 service for large print only.
What are the trim sizes for paperback files? See the chart below for available paperback trim sizes. Before work begins, all authors will receive a style sheet from which to choose trim size and layout style preferences.
What type of payments do you accept? Payment is via PayPal. A deposit of half of the payment due is required after submission and on receipt of the invoice, the remainder is due on delivery of the completed project. Authors will be sent a PayPal invoice to the email address given on the submission form. It is not necessary to have a PayPal account in order to pay the invoice (there is no extra charge to the author).
What if I find an error in my book after you’ve sent me the completed project? After delivery of the final project, authors must contact me within seven days to let me know if there is an error or problem with the formatted ebook or paperback. Content errors such as typos and other author-created errors are not covered in this guarantee—only formatting issues arising from the conversion process.
